You’re an American who’s flown 3500 miles to a new destination in a different hemisphere, arriving in the early morning hours and managing only four hours of sleep, but you’re excited to start exploring this new place, so you stumble downstairs to the hotel breakfast and the very first voice you hear in this new exotic locale is… Donald F’ing Trump on the television.
Well, crap.
Sometimes you just can’t travel far enough.
This is my first blog post in more than half a year. It’s the first post in what I hope will be a renewed blog: renewed not simply in being more active but also with a changed focus to feature more travel stories instead of a place merely to post pictures. But to do that, I have to work hard to keep a promise to myself: as much as possible, I need these posts to be completed with little editing, otherwise posting becomes too much of a drag and a time suck as I tend to get myself into unending editing loops. And before long, I get tired of it all and stop posting altogether.
I’m posting this bit about a renewed blog on the first day of a refreshed commitment to extended travel. And I’m beginning this round of travels with the goal of exploring an idea I’ve long considered relating new opportunities for overseas jobs and volunteering.
New starts…
Update: I’ve already updated this post once twice thrice in the 10 minutes since hitting the Publish button. But it was a vital edit. You’ve no idea the utter chaos that would have ensure ensued had I not made that correction. Shut up.
John, I’ll be looking forward to continuing posts! And I agree, editing does tend to take way too much out of me.
